Day 1 : 


  • After landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport our ground team will meet you and escort you directly to your private aircraft where you will meet your pilot and get ready for the first leg of your journey to the Elephant Bedroom in Samburu National Reserve. 

  • The flight time to the Elephant Bedroom Camp is approximately 1-hour, routing along the eastern side of the Aberdare Mountain Range and Mount Kenya. 

  • After landing at the bush airstrip next to the lodge, you will be welcomed by the lodge staff and whisked away to the camp which lies along the shores of the Ewaso Ng'iro river, one of the prime water sources in the Samburu region. 

  • Dinner is served around 8PM, served on the deck of the main mezzanine area, and after a quiet and relaxing night, you will enjoy falling asleep to the sounds of wild elephants and the occasional lion call in the far distance. 

Day 2 :

  • You will wake up to the sounds of birds and wildlife, the perfect wake up call for any nature lover. Coffee or tea will be brought to your room at the time of your choosing, so you can sit and enjoy your hot drink to the sounds of the bush. 

  • An early morning game drive is the perfect opportunity to explore the arid and unique landscape of Samburu. Samburu is home to some incredibly rare species and on your drive, you will get to see some of these beautiful animals that roam these parts. Keep an eye out for the “Samburu Five” these being the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, fringed-eared Oryx and the gerenuk with its elongated neck, often observed standing on two legs while feeding from the bushes.

  • The rest of the day can be enjoyed viewing the wildlife that visits the river for a refreshing drink, the perfect spot for a sundowner and to end your day. 

Day 3 & 4: 

  • After breakfast, you can discuss the best takeoff time with your pilot for the second part of your safari which will take you to the Sarara Camp in the Matthews Mountain Range. 

  • You will enjoy a low-level flight over the vast and arid Samburu scrubland, lasting approximately 30-45 minutes. 

  • After landing at Sarara Airstrip, you will be met by the camps game vehicle and friendly game guide, who will take you to your new African home for the next 2 days. 

  • Set on an 850,000 acre conservancy you can enjoy game drives, guided walks, a visit to the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, or visit the singing wells to honour an age-old tradition. 

  • Evenings are spent relaxing in true African safari style, with evening drinks around the campfire followed by a sumptuous meal.  ​

Day 5 : 

  • After breakfast, you will get ready for your flight from Sarara to the Desert Rose Lodge in Turkana. 

  • The flight to Desert Rose Lodge will be just under an hour, routing north along the Matthews Mountain Range and south of the Chalbi desert. 

  • You will spend the next 2 nights at Desert Rose Lodge, a luxury oasis in Kenya's northern frontier. 

Day 6 : 

  • After a revitalizing night’s sleep, you will be fresh and ready to set off early morning for a full-day of exploration of Lake Turkana, enjoying an exciting off-road adventure in a 4x4 vehicle. This is a unique opportunity to see one of the most remote areas on earth, it will leave you breathless, witnessing firsthand the largest permanent desert lake and largest alkaline lake in the world!

Day 7 : 

  • After a healthy breakfast, you will head back to the airstrip for the flight back to Loisaba Conservancy in Laikipia for 1 last night of magic in Africa. You will stay at the unique Star Beds Camp where you will enjoy a truly unique night sleeping under the stars. 

Day 8 : 

  • On your last day, you will enjoy a hearty breakfast before departure to the airstrip for the final leg of your journey back to Nairobi.

  • Upon landing, we will be on hand to help you unload. The strangers you met will feel like long life friends making goodbyes bittersweet, but the experiences gained will be yours to keep forever! 



Elephant Bedroom Camp - Samburu (12) .jp



The Elephant Bedroom Camp is an intimate tented camp with simplistic elegance, luxury and style, providing its guests an incredible safari experience. The camp offers luxury in a setting of breathtaking beauty. It is set along the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River and shaded by doum palms and other trees that make up this green belt of riverine forest in Samburu National Reserve. The surrounding Samburu National Reserve is an array of spectacular scenery, with its arid plains bisected by the meandering river. This is further enhanced by the backdrop of Africa's momentous mountains, including Mt Kenya. The camp has 14 spacious tents which are rustic with colourful African touches, offering comfort and luxury in the Samburu wilderness.

Six beautifully appointed ensuite tents overlook the majestic Matthews Mountain Range and provide a fantastic platform, where you can take a moment to take in the impressive 850,000-acre wildlife conservancy. The camp's busy waterhole is frequented by an array of wildlife, including elephant, buffalo, kudu, impala, leopard, reticulated giraffe and the Endangered and elusive African wild dog. The camp also offers Loimugi House, a two-bedroom tented family unit that includes a refreshing plunge pool, a private dining, its own sitting room and endless views of the Matthews Range. The Matthews Mountain Range is located in Kenya's Northern Frontier and is one of the wildest areas in the country.

Desert Rose, a unique eco-friendly lodge located at 5,500 feet above sea level on the verdant cedar forest slopes of Mt Nyiru, towers majestically above the El Barta plains, between Karisia Mountains and Lake Turkana in North Kenya. It consists of five unique houses accommodating up to twelve people in total. The remote location of the lodge, its closeness to nature, and surreality amid the wilderness creates a unique atmosphere of spirituality and attracts not only people but also wildlife, like the resident leopard which lives nearby and can sometimes be heard in the early morning and late evening. 

Loisaba Star Beds - little girl & Sambur



Poised on a rocky kopje, the Loisaba Star Beds offers sweeping views over an undulating valley and a permanent waterhole which is frequented by the resident wildlife. You will enjoy a magical night’s sleep in the hotels handcrafted four-poster wooden beds, which sit on raised wooden platforms jutting out from a thatched-roof accommodation. These beds are rolled out each night for guests to enjoy the endless African sky in what will probably be the most memorable sleep you will ever have on one of the most unique beds ever designed.

Rustically designed to complement the surrounding environment, each star bed is individually built in harmony with the natural rocky features, incorporating a sitting area, and an open plan bathroom with a view. A team of traditional Samburu & Laikipiak Maasai warriors will be waiting to welcome you with their customary warm African hospitality.
